Review | Hermès Rouge Satin Lipstick

These days, one of my must-carry items in my handback is the Rouge Hermès lipstick.

I've actually never been a fan of luxury brand's beauty items (think Chanel, Gucci etc), but recently I was in my local H boutique, and my SA mentioned that there were seasonal colours released for the lipsticks range. I wasn't all that much interested until she showed me the lipstick packaging.

I fell in love!

The original packaging is a sophisticated light gold, black and white, with the H seal meticulously etched into the gold lid. The lipstick itself is also magnetic, so ease of closing (and staying closed). The limited edition lipsticks are in tubes featuring the brand's seasonal colours.

I purchased mine in the Satin finish in the colour Rouge Casaque.

What I think of this product:

  • The unboxing experience is so luxurious. The lipstick comes in a little white box, which you remove to reveal the beautiful signature H orange box, which then reveals a little pouch, inside which sits the lipstick!

  • Lipstick slides easily in and out of the lipstick tube, so no need for additional twisting or anything. Hermès is printed near the top of the lipstick.

  • I wasn't able to try on the lipstick (and to be honest didn't want to what with the current COVID-19 situation and all) and it looked red when swatched. The colour itself is a pinkish red on my skin tone (fair-medium Asian skin, depending on season).

  • Refillable lipstick as the brand is being sustainable, so next time can just pop in store and purchase the refill rather than the lipstick tube.

  • Fragrance is soft and mild, but beautifully crafted.

  • Feels buttery and smooth on application, leaves my lips feeling moisturised but not too heavy.

  • Colour was quite buildable and pigmented, and lasted well until I had to eat (which was expected). Drinking was somewhat okay, and just required a bit of touching up.

  • At AU$100 (~US$77) a piece, this is definitely not a cheap lipstick!

Quaintrelle ranking:

  • Quality: 9/10

  • Value for money: 7.5/10

  • Ease of purchase: 8.5/10

Overall Quaintrelle recommendation: At this price range, this is definitely a high end luxury lipstick. Whilst quality is good, the packaging surpasses all expectations. The user experience itself is just amazing, and worth the price that you pay for the lipstick. Definitely one of the better designer beauty products I've ever tried! I do recommend that, if budget allows, you try this product. You will definitely appreciate the level of detail and thought that went behind creating this beautiful lipstick!

These can be purchased at any H boutique, in the Satin and Matte range, with a multitude of reddish based tones to choose from, as well as the Lip Enhancers. They can also be purchased on the H website, or through department stores that stock the brand.

Hope you enjoyed this review! Please leave a comment if you've purchased this before. Would love to hear your thoughts! :)

xx
